After describing my series, “The Futility of Envy,” to a few of my artist friends, I received this email from one of them: “Okay, so if I were a wall, I would want to be a STOP sign because:

  1. A stop sign has eight sides. Double that of a generic wall. And besides, “octagon” is just a cool sounding name for a shape.
  2. It’s red! (my favorite color)
  3. You Have to literally stop and take notice. If you don’t, there are consequences. A grey wall…not so much”   Mary Polhmann
Thank you Mary for your terrific idea. As soon as I read your email, I knew it would be part of my series.
