The Futility of Envy
I envy people who are gregarious, outgoing and comfortable in social situations. I tend to sit back and observe others being the life of the party. They seem to work the room with ease, always with a quip or joke, able to engage and put everyone at ease. We are drawn to these people and envy them. However, envy has a wicked side. We secretly find pleasure in any faux pas that befalls those we admire. If the life of the party has one too many cocktails, we are secretly gleeful when he stumbles and spills his drink on the carpet. Part of the human condition is to derive pleasure when our heroes fall. This painting reminds us to enjoy the party.
Life of the Party by Nolan Haan
Even if you are not the life of the party, this painting will bring life into your environment. It works equally well in traditional and severely contemporary decors. It never fails to uplift.
